The Johnson High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Leadership Team earned the National Tri-Service Champion title at the JROTC Leadership and Academics Bowl (JLAB) in Washington, D.C., June 24-28.

Four more local students awarded Merit Scholarships

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced four more local winners of scholarships financed by colleges and universities. Johnson High’s Lauren Hierholzer and Mary Harris both received a National Merit Baylor University Scholarship. Harris is interested in pursuing a career in medicine/biology. H
Two Reagan students receive writing award

Michael Mancini and Suchee Shah were among 543 high school seniors chosen for this award. More than 1,600 students across the country were nominated.
NEISD high school newspapers now online

In addition to advancing in technology, moving newspapers online improves community access, cost efficiency, and provides students with current and relevant skills necessary for today’s journalism market.
Middleton to receive Health Champion Award

North East ISD Superintendent Dr. Richard A. Middleton has been selected as the 2010 Texas Health Champion Award winner by the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living at the University of Texas and Live Smart Texas.
Lopez Middle School welcomes new mascot

The faculty and student body of Lopez Middle School are feeling even more "pep in their step" with the arrival of their first mascot. The still unnamed panther made his debut at Panther Prowl and the Lopez Marketplace Aug. 18. The staff and students were all smiles and were excited that he was finally here, since they had voted to get a mascot the previous spring.
Reagan High offers math prep courses Aug. 9-13

Reagan choirs sweep UIL competition

The Reagan High School choirs walked away with numerous honors at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading contest earlier this month. Achieving their goal of excellence, the choristers even earned sweepstake wins to the absolute delight of the high school’s Fine Arts Department and choir directors Jo Scurlock-Dillard and Mary Cowart.
