Church Unlimited Takes Supplies, Volunteers to Texas Coast

Church Unlimited Members serve Rockport community

Church Unlimited San Antonio is one of many local churches that mobilized to help those devastated by the effects of Hurricane Harvey along Texas’ coast.  The new San Antonio branch felt especially compelled to help because its main campus is headquartered in Corpus Christi, with satellite branches throughout South Texas.

“The great thing is Texans in general really want to help each other,” said Pastor Bil Cornenlius.  “All of our other churches in South Texas were hit during the impact. We thought, ‘What if the San Antonio campus could help Rockport, Corpus Christi, those other areas?  Let’s just jump in and do what we can.’”

Volunteers at Church Unlimited San Antonio started putting together resources –filling up 18-wheelers from all over the country to send supplies to people in the affected area.  But that’s not all – teams gathered and headed south to physically help with the clean up – cutting trees, raking yards and clearing brush.

“We gridded the cities of Rockport, Aransas Pass and Port Aransas,” Cornelius said.  “We’re literally going home to home, taking work orders.  We said, ‘Let’s go help get people get through the debris and help them rebuild their lives.’”

Inspired to help?  “We can never have too many people, and we’d love to have you come out,” he said. “We love being part of the city. We said, ‘Let’s just serve the people and make sure when they come to church it’s practical and inspiring.’ That’s it.  We want to say something on Sunday that’s going to help you on Monday.”

Church services are held at Lopez Middle School, 23103 Hardy Oak Blvd., at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Sundays.  For more information, call 210-901-5677 or find them on Facebook: ChrchUnltdSA or at
