Cancer survivors shine on runway

GNO Balloons

The 7th Annual Girls Night Out is tonight, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m., at the Village of Stone Oak Shopping Center, 22610 U.S. 281 Highway North (in the area north of Alamo Drafthouse).  The event, co-hosted by the Village at Stone Oak Shopping Center and North Central Baptist Hospital, features wine and food tastings, health information, goodies from health and wellness vendors and free health screenings from the Baptist Mobile Unit.  Additionally, a fashion show of the latest trends provided by shopping center merchants features breast cancer survivors as models, including the first male survivor model, according to Patti Tanner of the Baptist Health System.  Pure Posh Saloon will style models’ hair and makeup.

This unique event blending fashion, healthcare and beauty raises awareness and encourages the community to join the fight to discover a cure for breast cancer. The event’s finale will be a “Message of Hope” pink balloon release honoring those who have lost the battle, are fighting and survivors of breast cancer.  Proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation, under a restricted medical research grant.
