Friday Feature: Boston's Pizza has a heart

Purchased hearts are on display at Boston's Pizza

Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, which means Boston’s Restaurant and Sports Bar is kicking off its annual fundraising effort. Between Saturday, Feb. 11 and Tuesday, Feb. 14, all Boston’s restaurants, including the one near Hwy 281 and Loop 1604, will sell $1 paper hearts for charity.

The popular eatery will also offer heart-shaped pizzas, red velvet cheesecake and, for the first time, a gluten-free brownie a la mode.  The San Antonio Boston’s will donate $1 for each Valentine-themed food item sold as well as proceeds from the paper hearts to the Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital.

“Giving back to charitable organizations is a long-standing tradition of Boston's Restaurant and Sports Bar,” says Mike Best, Boston’s chief operating officer. “We are passionate about the communities where our local franchisees operate and are pleased to support Christus Santa Rose Children's Hospital this year."

Over the past 13 years, the restaurant chain's annual Boston's Care fundraiser has raised more than $550,000 for local charities.  This year's goal is to collect $75,000.

Serving more than 150,000 children each year, Christus Santa Rosa is the only academic pediatric hospital in San Antonio.  From neonatal intensive care to children's emergency services, titanium rib implants and a specialized asthma program, Christus Santa Rosa has been providing quality, innovative care since 1959.

The sister company of Canada’s Boston Pizza, Boston’s Restaurant and Sports Bar was first introduced to the U.S. in 1998.  A full-service, family dining restaurant with separate sports bar, Boston’s offers 18 varieties of gourmet pizza, as well as salads, burgers, sandwiches, ribs and wings.  Boston’s Restaurant currently has 46 locations in the U.S. and Mexico.  Five new restaurants are expected to open in 2012.

The local Boston’s, located within the Legacy retail center at 1827 N. Loop 1604 East, is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday.  For more information, visit
