Being Thankful

Being Thankful
November is a great time of the year in San Antonio. We can be thankful for the pleasant weather and the reprieve of the summer heat. I wanted to take some time this column and share a few things I am thankful for in my practice. First and foremost I am thankful for all of the families that trust their eye care to our team. We have been in our location for over 4 years now and it is remarkable the growth we have experienced and the relationships we have built in caring for the eyes of Stone Oak. Because I live in the Stone Oak area as well, I get to see my patients and their families all throughout the community. It is wonderful to be able to see how the children are growing up right before my eyes.
I am thankful for my staff and I appreciate them as they are an invaluable part of my practice. We are adding another doctor who has been working fill-in for us for a little over a year now and we are excited to have Dr. David Dorsey joining our team permanently. Dr. Carrie Hall is still with us as well and welcomed Baby #2 into the world this November. We are thankful for all of our families’ health and well being.
With the addition of Dr Dorsey, we will also be undergoing some growing and remodeling.  We will be in the same location, so no worries about where to find us. We are excited to be able to offer more appointments as we will now have room for 2 doctors to see patients at the same time. This expansion will make same-day emergency appointments easier to work into our schedule and more convenient for our patients. We hope to have it all completed around the first of the year. When it is finished, we will definitely have a 5 year anniversary/remodel party to welcome everyone to the new facilities. We will be adding some new equipment as well as we feel it is important to keep up with technology.
I am thankful I will have more time to devote to ortho-k patients with the addition of Dr. Dorsey. One of the greatest joys I have experienced in my 11 years of practicing optometry is seeing the results that ortho-k can have for someone who was near-sighted and now can see without anything on- without surgery! For children, it slows their progression of nearsightedness and keeps their eyes from getting worse and worse each year at such a fast rate. Please ask if you or your family members are a candidate for this procedure at your next visit.
If you have any eye questions at all or are looking for a family eye doctor, please visit us online at or give us a call 210-495-9020 and come in. We are located at 19202 Stone Oak Parkway Ste 106 (at the NE corner of Stone Oak and Huebner).
