The city's public housing authority is negotiating the purchase of two apartment complexes that are within view of the  Club at Sonterra.
The apartments are at 107 and 130 Talavera Parkway and are known as the TalaVera apartments. They are owned by CWS Apartment Homes LLC of Austin.
On the company's Web site, the apartments boast of "Overlooking the prestigious Sonterra Golf Course."
Both properties are south of Loop 1604 off Blanco Road. The golf course and clubhouse lie just north of Loop 1604.
San Antonio Housing Authority commissioners on Friday authorized staff to negotiate an earnest money contract, 10 percent of the maximum purchase price, which is $29.6 million and $26.7 million, respectively, for the two complexes.
According to the Bexar County Appraisal District, the properties are valued at $22 million and $11 million.
Any final purchase must come back to SAHA's board of commissioners for approval.
Under the leadership of President and CEO Henry Alvarez, SAHA has been buying and building a number of apartment complexes. Most have some apartments set aside to house residents from SAHA's dilapidated public housing projects. It's not clear who would reside at TalaVera if it were purchased.
