Reagan volleyball Wins District Outright! And District XC Meet This weekend

As October comes to an end and the weather starts to get cooler some of the High School sports really start to heat up. The Reagan Cross country Teams will be competing in the most important race of the year this weekend at Brook City Base. The District 26-5A meet is the one determining race that decides if a runner is able to continue to race next week in the Region IV Meet. Varsity girls will run 2 miles while the boys races is a 5K (3.1 miles). The top 10 individual runners at the district meet move on to compete at the Regional Meet as well as the top 2 overall teams. The Regional Meet will be held November 3 at the same course at Brooks City Base. The District Meet will start this Saturday morning at 8:00am.

Volleyball played it’s final regular season match last night and defeated Judson but what was more important was going into the night the Rattlers and Churchill were tied in 1st place each with one loss to each other. A Churchill win last night over Smithson Valley and a playoff game or a coin flip for first would be necessary. But, last night Smithson Valley defeated the Chargers in a dramatic 5 set victory. The Rangers lost the first two sets before coming alive wining the next 3 sets and wining the match. The Churchill loss sets the district with Reagan number one, Churchill two seed, Smithson Valley holds down the third spot and MacArthur picks up the final playoff spot in district 26-5A. Another benefit to not having to go to a playoff is the Volleyball team now knows who their first round opponent is. Next Monday or Tuesday Reagan will be playing Seguin (the 4 seed out of 25-5A). As soon as we know the date and time we will let you know. The Volleyball Playoffs move quickly with the second round being played next weekend and the Region Tournament held the weekend of November 10th.
