Rattler Sports Report

Rattlers get back on Track with win over Wagner

I guess this week better late than never applies for the Rattler Sports Report.  We missed updated as soon as the game was over Friday night as we were to busy celebrating the Rattler Football team getting back on track by beating up on Wagner.  By now everyone knows Marcus Wright had a stellar game and huge second quarter leading your Rattlers to a 6-1 record and 5-1 in district play.  Wagner did a great job of slowing down the Rattlers for the first period but did not have the depth to stop the running and passing attack.  The Rattler defense had a tremendous game lead by some great run defense by the Line backing core.

Looking ahead the Rattlers take on Lee this Thursday night and we will be at the game to give a halftime update and post a few photos during the game.  If your not going to make it to the game check right here at stoneoakinfo.com around 8:30pm-9pm and before halftime is even over you will see some great photos from the game.  Lee is 0-4 in district but don’t let the record fool you, no team in district 26-5A is an easy game.  Lee will be lead by QB Jerome Tiller who is already committed to play for the cyclones of Iowa State in the big 12 next year.  The defense will have their work cut out for them as they not only have to stop Tillers big arm but also his fast feet.

The Rattler offence should have a stand out performance against Lee, as the Vols have struggled against teams that can run the ball.  Look for a lot of Marcus Wright and maybe a few more trick plays like we saw last Friday night.  Don’t forget this game is Thursday so kick off is 7:00pm at Comalander Stadium.

Not wanting to look to far ahead but there is an interesting game in Austin Friday night.  Bowie plays Westlake at Austin Westlake High School.  This game looks to be important as if Reagan makes the playoffs (and they should) One of these two teams will more than likely be Reagan’s first round opponent.  Again lets not look past Lee and the two huge games to finish the season, but if you don’t have much to do on Saturday and want to see the best 25-5A has to offer a short drive up to Westlake might be well worth it.

Volleyball Playoffs just around the Corner

The Rattler Volleyball team is still doing just one thing and that’s winning.  The Rattlers have not dropped a match since their early season hiccup against Churchill.  With the top two spots in District 26-5A secure the only thing left to determine is who will Reagan’s first round opponent be?  From the looks of things the Rattlers will get either Austin Bowie at 26-8 / 8-3 or Seguin at 19-10 / 7-4.  We will keep you posted.

Cross Country One more Warm Up

The Cross Country teams have just one more warm up race before the district 26-5A meet on Oct 27th.  This week the teams head to TLC in Seguin for the last test before the district meet to be held at Brooks City Base.  This weeks meet starts at 8am.
