Penny's From Heaven

I have twice now had the pleasure of hearing Patsy Swendson speak about her passion for pet assisted therapy and her amazing dog, Penny.  If you’ve been around San Antonio for awhile, you might remember Patsy from her daily cooking show on KENS-5.  Or, you may have one of her 49 published cookbooks.  But if you haven’t read, “Penny’s from Heaven”, then you’ve missed out on a wonderful, uplifting book that will make you believe that angels come into our lives in ways we can’t even imagine.

You may be wondering why I’m posting this the week of July 4th.  Patsy was a guest at the Patriotic Pops Concert at our church (Coker United Methodist) last Sunday.  Penny and some of her canine friends were there, along with Michael Boothby, one of the soldiers who appeared on the Bob Woodruff special, “Back From Iraq”.  You see, these therapy dogs do a lot of healing work with soldiers (and their families) as they fight to recover from war injuries – right here in San Antonio.

If the rain keeps you inside tomorrow, you might want to check out the website at where you can read some of Penny’s stories and also find out about Patsy’s appearances and book signing events.  Patsy has an amazing gift for capturing the moments between canine and human.  I guarantee that a reading of “Penny’s Stories” will touch your heart.  And maybe you’ll find it in your heart to help Patsy continue this wonderful ministry of hers.
