Johnson High graduates first senior class

The new Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High celebrated a historical moment Wednesday night with the graduation of the school’s first senior class.  The 201 students who chose to end their high school careers at the brand new campus were praised not only for their academic success, but for their courage in taking on the challenges of being the “first to show, first to go.”<

Johnson High School student Jackie Nemeth won second place in the 13 to 18 age group at this year’s Picture Your World Youth Photography contest.  Hosted by the Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas, the annual contest promotes preservation of our natural environment through images that reveal the interconnectedness of earth, water, sky and all living creatures.

The Reagan High School Student Council was named the first place winner among public school floats at this year’s Battle of Flowers parade.  Following the general theme of “Hats Off to Texas’ Future Leaders,” Reagan’s Voyaging into Outer Space float included original costumes inspired by NASA, Star Trek, aliens and scientists.

Reagan High School students -- senior Molly Giltner, juniors Clayton Condie and Daanish Zaidi, and sophomore Michael Mancini -- represented the San Antonio World Affairs Council at the National Academic World Quest competition in Washington D.C.

Tejeda students selected for state honor choir

A handful of Tejeda Middle School eighth-grade choir students received a unique performance opportunity. Leah Alonzo, Arlyssa Cavazos, Paul Nix and Roland Rodriguez were selected to perform with the 2009 Texas Choral Director's Honor Choir this summer. About 200 students from across the state are offered this special opportunity each year. 

Encino Elementary joins Race for the Cure

For the first time, a team from Encino Park Elementary School participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  Comprised of community members, school employees, parents and students, the 41-member team participated in the annual race on April 4. 

Bush's Randy Hoyer named Outstanding Principal

Randy Hoyer, Bush Middle School’s head bulldog, was recently selected as Outstanding Junior School Principal for 2010 by the Region 20 Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP).  Hoyer will be one of roughly 20 middle school principals throughout Texas awarded this high honor during the association’s 2010 summer conference.

Carousel was performed as a celebration of ten years of quality performances at Reagan High School.  Carousel was the first production performed the year Reagan opened.

Reagan Choir wins big at UIL

The Reagan Choir competed in the UIL solo and ensemble competition in New Braunsfel.  This regional event occurs on a yearly basis and includes thirty schools.   This is one of the few events that students have a opportunity to showcase his or her talents individually to a judge.  The student receives written feedback and sometimes verbal on his or her solo music piece.  This rating gives t
