Faith, Hope and Love Revival Art Show Honors Shooting Survivor

Jane Swanson, the lone survivor of the Century 21 office shooting will share her art and inspiring story on Sunday, October 1 as part of her Faith, Hope and Love Revival Art Show happening all weekend at the Lighthouse Coffee Café in Stone Oak. “Faith, hope and love - those are the three things I needed to survive and recover,” explained Jane Swanson. “They are also the three things anyone needs to get through a trauma.”

Many people didn’t expect Jane to “get through” the trauma that shocked the San Antonio community in July of 2003, when a real estate agent walked into the North Side real estate office and shot three of his co-workers, including Jane. Not only did she survive, Jane is now using her experience to teach others about the power of prayer and the importance of supporting the trauma program at University Hospital. She translates her experience into lessons we can all learn about faith and trust in God.

Are You Ready for Some Football! Lightning delays Reagan-Macarthur Game

An impressive thunderstorm delayed the Reagan-MacArthur game Saturday night at Commalander Stadium.  Just a few minutes and one fieldgoal into the game, an announcement was made to move to a place of shelter as a severe thunderstorm loomed overhead.  The players left the field, the bands, drill teams , and spirit teams moved back to the buses, and the crowds retreated underneath the stands.  Spectators watched lightning and torrential rains, pending the decision to play or not  to play. Eventually, play was resumed, but not before this observer bailed!  According to the Diamondbacker website, the game was ultimately called and will be resumed this Monday night at 6:30 with 11:57 remaining and the Rattlers trailing 7-3. Come on out and support the Reagan Rattlers, the weather will be great!

Voice Your Concerns About Bexar Met

The Stone Oak POA sent the following email reguesting residents consider voicing their concerns about water service provided by the Bexar Metropolitan Water District:

The problems in our area which exist with BexarMet were discussed at length at a special meeting of the Stone Oak Advisory Committee on September 13, 2006.  The consensus of the Committee was that lines of communication remain open with BexarMet to try to achieve a solution to problems affecting our area, but to also make the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) fully aware of problems experienced.  A letter to TCEQ, drafted by one of our residents, was presented to the attendees as one of the hand-outs and we were asked to provide this and the other documents attached electronically for your use and dissemination to residents in your neighborhood, should you wish to do so.

You may also file a complaint by email with TCEQ by emailing them at cmplaint@tceq.state.tx.us.  Their website address is
www.tceq.state.tx.us if you'd like more information.
